The Irwin Blitt Fellowship will be awarded to a Washburn University student who will work with the Rita Blitt Collection during an academic year to research and develop a curatorial project under the guidance of museum staff and a faculty mentor. In the spirit of Rita Blitt's work, students will be encouraged to explore the ways in which artistic disciplines intersect. Each project will culminate in an exhibition, multi-media presentation, research paper, catalogue, or a performance featuring music or dance. Research and interpretive content associated with the projects will become part of the Rita Blitt archive and ensure that the gallery and sculpture will serve the community and the campus as a place where interdisciplinary practices are explored.
The awarding of the fellowship is a competitive process and is open to juniors and seniors of all majors.
