Put Washburn in your will or estate plan...
Many people who want to give back to Washburn University do so by including us in their will or estate plans. Leaving a portion of your estate to the Washburn University Foundation can make a tremendous difference to students, and leaving something behind for what matters to you is an important part of legacy planning. So, to inspire others to make Washburn a part of their estate plan, Greg, bba '88, and Jaena, ba '89, Greenwood, and Bruce & Theresa McPherson want to challenge you to say “I Will for Washburn.”
...Receive $10,000 to direct anywhere at Washburn.
If you put Washburn in your will or estate plan, you will receive $10,000 to direct to any area. The Greenwoods and McPhersons have donated a $1 million fund, and any new, documented commitment putting Washburn in your will or estate plans means you’ll be able to take $10,000 of that fund and put it to any Washburn program or fund you wish—any school, college, department, athletic or music or art program, scholarship, project, campus renovation, or student fund. It’s entirely up to what kind of difference you want to make. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to not only benefit Washburn in the future but to have a direct impact on students today.
If you’ve ever thought about putting Washburn in your will, now is the time—this kind of legacy challenge has never happened at Washburn and will only be available for as long as the Greenwood/McPherson fund lasts.

Campaign progress update
As of January 2024, 56 planned gifts had been secured through the I Will campaign. Below is just a sampling of where the people designated their $10,000 to have an immediate impact.
