Washburn University School of Law enrolled Jessie Junette Nye in 1909 and in 1912 she became the first woman to graduate from the Law School. To honor her legacy, the Jessie Junette Nye Society, launched in 2020, was formed as an alumnae-driven group that aims to connect female legal professionals with one another. Strong professional networks and diverse relationships are particularly important for women lawyers throughout all stages of their careers. The Nye Society aims to provide alumnae an opportunity to meet other female attorneys and discuss issues that impact them professionally.
