Wake Up with Washburn

Established in 1993, the Wake Up with Washburn Breakfast lecture series gives Washburn the opportunity to showcase four alumni during the academic year to fellow Ichabod alumni, faculty, staff, students and the Topeka community.

The lecture series is co-sponsored by the Washburn University Alumni Association and Foundation and the Washburn University School of Business and provides a forum for alumni lecturers enlighten the audience about their career, accomplishments and how Washburn had a positive impact them while they were students.

"Building a Solid Foundation: Education, Servant Leadership and Housing"
Having a solid foundation impacts success in all areas. As a first-generation and non-traditional student at Washburn, Janice Watkins was supported by her family, professors and the Washburn Women's Alliance to earn a degree. Solid mentors throughout her education and career allowed a foundation to be built to model servant leadership, taking those principles and achieving high success quickly at Topeka Habitat for Humanity. A foundation of affordable housing impacts us all - our health, safety, viability and the success of our community. Join us as Janice discusses her story, mentors and family legacy while working to achieve affordable housing in our community.
